Mini Moab Vacay

Marty had some business meetings in Moab yesterday. We were so fortunate to be able to make it a work/vacation trip. The boys were super excited to go. They had never been before. Actually, we went down when Jacob was 2 years old. He doesn't remember. This go around, we stayed at La Quinta. They boys were excited for the swimming pool and the breakfast. They got to make their own Belgian waffles. Yummy. They were the best waffles I've had in a long time.

We arrived on Sunday around 6:30. We checked in and I had to run to the store (oh horrors!) to get a toothbrush. I ended up with a 12 pack of Diet Coke (for Marty), a 24-bottle flat of water (for me), a 6-pack of Gatorade (for the boys), and a box of Nilla wafers for all of us. Yes, I did get my pink toothbrush. It's all about oral hygiene.

Monday morning, I woke up and went running outside through downtown Moab. It was beautiful and serene. I loved it. I got back to our freezing cold room. I decided to get the boys some hot chocolate from the free breakfast in the lobby. When I got back, they were in bed watching the boob tube.

We got dressed and went downstairs for our pre-hike meal. Loved the waffles and boiled eggs. The boys loved the waffles and juice. Marty loved the breakfast burritos. We then went to hike the Arches. Marty said it was a quick hike. It would have been quick had we stayed on the trail. After a 40 minute detour, we finally made it. Jacob did cry pretty much the entire hike. Ben, my little 4-year-old, was a super trooper. He didn't complain much at all. It was so worth it to make it to the end. We had picked up Junior Ranger booklets for the boys to complete on the hike. After the detour, the kids were not that into completing their Junior Ranger badges. Jacob even said that he didn't want a prize anymore; they boys just wanted to go back to the hotel and go swimming.

Notice we were all smiles at the Visitors Center. And all smiles at the end. No pictures taken of the hike to get there. Too much weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth!

Here's a mini monument we saw on the way down. And of course the balanced rock.

It was a wonderful time spent together as a family. I love Marty, Jacob, and Ben. They are my everything. I am always at peace when I am with my family.
