Elf on the Shelf

Sparky is our own "Elf on the Shelf. Thank goodness for him. He keeps close tabs on my little guys. They are so cute, fun, and good, but they do have their moments. Sparky give Jacob and Ben little elf seeds this year to plant one night. If they plant them and they have been good, they get a surprise in the morning.

These are the elf seeds (tic tacs)
 Planted in florists foam
Sparky enjoying a cookie and water
The blooms of cookies grown from elf seeds
Just another cute pic of Sparky
The straw is a bit too big for Sparky!

What are your Elf on the Shelf traditions?

Happy Halloween!!!!

This was a different Halloween at our house this year. Ben got into the Transformers several months ago. The he say the Avengers. Then he could talk about nothing more than Hawkeye or Iron Man, even Captain America on occasion.

Jacob wanted NOTING to do with trick or treating. He got spooked last year by an adult dressed as the Grimm Reapper, following all the little ones around the neighborhood. According to Jacob, he didn't want to dress up at go get candy. He stayed home with Marty while I took Ben around.

Ben Finally decided that he would be Iron Many. Yes. At least we were ready to conquer the candy world. He stock up. He got all the fun candy. Yeah. for at least one of my angels wanted to do what every parent really wishes he or she could do.

Here are the pictures of Iron Man (Ben), UTE fan (Jenny), and the Cougar Fan (Marty):

The First Snow and Sledding

What did I just say? Snow and sledding? Why yes. Yes I did. It snowed last week. I was expected a few flurries, but woke up to 7-8 inches! The kids were beyond thrilled. And to be quite frank, so was I. I love the clean, crisp air. It's quiet and serene. Well, it serene until the the Asay Darlings and Momma Asay get on their warm clothes and go sledding and snowboarding! Here are some pictures. They are just a few and not great. It was dark and I was having too much fun to stop and take lots of pictures. Daddy Asay was bundled up inside, iPadding.

The Fire Pit

Ben helped Aunt Jodi build a fire pit two years ago, and has wanted us to build one ever since. Marty and I finally splurged and bought a freestanding fire pit at Sam's Club. Love that place. We purchased it a few months ago and just christened it over UEA with hot dogs and smores. It was fabulous once we got the smoke under control!

The Corn Maze

I love my family. I love Marty. He is so good to let me sleep after working the night shift. Some tend to look at me like I have a 3rd eye when they hear that I am a working mother. Hey peeps! Don't knock it til you try it!! I am a registered nurse, and have been for just shy of sixteen years. The NCLEX-RN (national boards for RNs) is not an easy one. If I don't work, I lose my license, and I will not take boards again. At least I have a degree/skills in a discipline that is beneficial to my family, ward, and stake. How many CPR certifications have I done for YW and Scout camp? How many treks do I get asked to go on because of my profession. TONS. And I am glad to be able to help give of my time and talents. Okay. Off my soap box...

Marty. What a fabulous husband, friend, and father. He loves us and shows his love every day. He took the little darlings to the corn maze a few weeks ago over UEA. They had a blast. Here is the proof:
