Our New Baby Girl Sarah!

Yes, she is finally here. We finally have our baby girl! Her name is Sarah, and she is just wonderful. The boys are crazy about their baby sister. Ben loves here deeply, even though he taunts and torments her at times. Oh well. I guess he doesn't like being usurped as the baby of the family. Here are her long awaited pictures!

Yes. I realize she is a cat. But she is the closest thing to a baby sister that Jacob and Ben will ever have. Jacob and Marty have wanted a cat for so long. I have always HATED the furry purrers. And "hate" is putting it mildly. However, Jacob saw Sarah at Petco for adoption, and fell in love with her. Needless to say, I gave in to a week's worth of tears and pleading from my 5-year-old angel and have yet to regret it. I even love Sarah. She loves the boys. She is so mild and docile. She is wonderful. Jacob loves to have her sleep on his bed with him. He is such a nurterer. Love him. Love Ben. Love Sarah. And I love Marty for talking me into getting a cat!

And the Verdict Is . . .

Okay. So Marty wrote the last post about wanting to sell our precious Ben. We take it back. Poor Ben has FINALLY been diagnosed with chronic ear infections. In fact, he has had so many (diagnosed and undiagnosed) that he has delayed speech. He failed his hearing screen (OAE) in his left ear. The ENT we were referred to said Ben is a PRIME candidate for ear tubes. Hip Hip Hooray! The end to his suffering is in sight. We were told his speech will improve dramatically after the surgery because the poor guy will actually be able to hear us. I'm such a bad mother for thinking he was just a demon child. I know it's not a huge complicated procedure, but keep Ben in your prayers next Tuesday, Feb. 16th.

Kid for Sale

Name: Ben
Age: 2
Date of Birth: November 7, 2007
Height: 2' 7"
Weight: 38 lbs.
Eye Color: Blue
Hair Color: Blond

Profession: Terrible Two
Education: Advance degree in tantrum throwing
Language ability: Beginner
Second Language: Not Set
Third Language: Not Set
Religion: Christian

Interests: Likes mess making, puddles, drag racing big wheels and Elmo.

We would never really put this kid for sale, but lately he has brought us awful close. Remember the seizure episode? I think it may have been Ben holding his breath. I have done some research and am finding that there is a holding breath syndrome that mimics seizure disorders. Anyway, he has had three additional episodes where he holds his breath when he cries. Two of these episodes were just this week! And on top of that, he has been sick for most of the month of January with everything - you name it, this kid has had it. Teething (molars), throwing up, fever, cough, runs, et. al...

This is a glimpse into the life of Ben...

These two shots were right after we discovered Ben's new favorite thing...emptying all the contents of his dresser! He also love to haul around his potty chair - use it? never. But he loves dragging it around the house.

We love when he sleeps, look how sweet, but come awake time, and you see why looks are so deceiving.

You've all seen the little drawings of a fairy princess that when you turn them upside-down they become an ugly ogre??? That's Ben. Sweet and pie one minute and hell on wheels the next. I hope we all survive the terrible twos!

Bob The Builder, Meet Marty

Marty has found his new favorite toy. A power drill. I'm not complaining. I have new oil-rubbed bronze door fixtures and hinges. I love it. But Marty has decided that other things around the house need fixing also. His handy side-kick Ben (Buzz Light Year) has been his handy assistant. I couldn't resist getting these cute pictures.

Just Being Themselves

Yes. I know. I only blog about my boys. And this entry is no different. My boys are my everything. I just love catching them doing their own thing. Like yesterday. Jacob and Ben were watching cartoons. They looked darling on the sofa. I also got some pictures of them eating their apples a la "Mr. Peepers" style. Never heard of Mr. Peepers? Just google it.

Merry Christmas 2009

Santa found our house this year. He never fails to deliver lots of fun toys for the Asay boys. We have two Christmas trees -- one upstairs and one down in the basement. When I got home from work Friday morning, Jacob greeting me in distress. It seems Santa had forgotten to come to our house. Jake said there were no presents/toys under the tree. I asked if he had looked under the tree in the basement. His face lit up. He ran (after we had him wait while Marty got the camera). There was much joy to be had. Christmas is so delightful through the eyes of my wonderful angels. I love them.
