Today Is Your Birthday, Shout "Hooray!"

Happy birthday to the most wonderful husband and best friend in the world. I love you Marty, and hope you had a wonderful number 37! It's been a wonderful ten years with you. I hope you had fun today. I love you and am so grateful you are in my life!

Marty woke up to ten inches of snow in celebration of his special day. After he cleared the driveway, I took Marty and the boys to Granny Annie's for birthday breakfast. It's a favorite of everyone in the Asay household.

He was then off to work. The boys and I made him a cake. We (i.e. JENNY) made homemade beef stew, his mom's yummy recipe. It cooked all day in the oven. I also made homemade wheat bread (including fresh-ground wheat) for the birthday dinner. After presents, yummy cake and ice cream were had by all. Enjoy the pictures. I snuck a few pictures in of Ben eating pistachios, his new favorite form of protein. I guess there are worse things he could prefer.

St. George #2

WARNING: Lots and lots of pictures!!

Jacob quickly rebounded from his bout of tummy flu by the next morning, complete with eating a huge bowl of cereal. I, however, was not so resilient. I felt "icky" all Thursday. Bummer. However, everyone was back to normal by Friday. Jordan and Jacie, who are two of Jacob and Ben's cousins, came down Friday along with their parents. Grandma and Grandpa Asay joined us, too. Aunt Jill and Curtis had also come for the fun weekend. Grandma and Grandpa Asay did an Easter egg hunt for the kiddies and a YUMMY steak cook-out. After dinner, the kids got to color Easter eggs. Lots of fun and food were had by all.

We just got home this afternoon. It sure is good to be home and I am so looking forward to sleeping in my own bed. I am so thankful for my family, including my extended family. I love them and all they do for us. I am truly blessed.

St. George #1

We went to St. George for Easter weekend. I was so excited for a vacation, I could hardly stand it. We left after Jacob got out of school Wednesday. It was a nice ride. The boys stayed entertained watching movies and falling asleep. That evening before bed, Jacob complained of a "tummy ache." He then proceeded to jump up and down and fool around. So is he sick or isn't he? Side note: Ben had the stomach flu the Sunday before Easter. Jacob was certain it was a gas bubble, or maybe it was wishing thinking on my part. I still got a bowl for him just in case. He was excited to sleep on the top bunk. His excitement didn't last long. He wanted to lay next to Ben on the trundle bed. We all fell in to sweet oblivion.

Around 11:00 that night, I heard Jacob making a mad dash up the ladder to the top bunk. The next thing I heard was "Mommy" followed by the most sickening sound: retching. He missed the bowl. I had to strip the bed, do laundry, make him a bed on the floor in the family room and a bed for me on the couch so I could be near him. Aunt Jill got up and sat with Jacob while I went to the gas station to get some Sprite and Gatorade. I ran through a stop sign in my mad dash to get back to my sickie. I looked in my rear view mirror and saw red and blue flashing lights. The Deputy Sheriff took pity on me after I told him my story. He let me got without even a written warning.

I got Jacob tucked in and asleep. I tossed and turned on the couch only to awaken at 3:00 am to my have my turn with the stomach flu. And thus began my much anticipated vacation to sunny southern Utah!

Let's not forget Ben. He just had fun sitting on the 4-wheelers and in the Ranger in the garage for HOURS and HOURS! What a kid.

My Baby Is Gone

We sold my baby. My Murano is now gone. We want an SUV with a third row seat. Now I'm in quite a quandary. I'm torn between a Mazda CX-9 and a Volvo XC-90. I can get more for my money with a Mazda, but I loved the Volvo I used to have. I've driven both vehicles, and both are comfortable and smooth. I can get the Mazda for 0% financing with more bells and whistles than the Volvo. But again I think "I sure loved my old Volvo." What to do!!!!
